In 1980, Paul joined the Christian Research Institute (CRI) under its founder, Walter Martin. For six of his fifteen years at CRI Paul served as a missionary in S‚Äpo Paulo, Brazil, and for six years he co- hosted the live, nationwide víBible Answer Manvì radio broadcast alongside Ron Rhodes, Robert M. Bowman, Jr., Kenneth Samples, and other noted apologists. During his time at CRI he was also the ministry's director of international outreach and a senior editor of the Christian Research Journal (1989-1995).

The best-selling Christianity, Cults & Religions PowerPoint™ helps Christians know what they believe and why. It comes ready-to-use for teaching the beliefs and practices of 20 world religions and cults, including: Christianity, Scientology, Judaism, Islam, Nation of Islam, Unity School of Christianity, Buddhism, New Age, Hinduism, Mormonism (Latter-Day Saints), Wicca, Hare Krishna, Unification Church, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science, Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism, Bahá’í World Faith, Armstrongism, Spiritualism, and Transcendental Meditation (TM).

The Christianity, Cults & Religions PowerPoint™ chart is an excellent way to teach the key beliefs and practices of biblical Christianity and how it compares to other religions and cults. With more than 280 frame slides, the Christianity, Cults & Religion PowerPoint™ provides comprehensive, up-to-date research of 20 groups, including the five major world religions. For each of the 20 religions and cults, the following information is provided:

  • The key person or founder of the group, including photographs where possible
  • The date and place it was founded
  • Symbols identified with the religion or cult
  • The key writings such as the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Qur’an (Koran), as well as publications and tracts where applicable
  • Who God is
  • Who Jesus is
  • Who the Holy Spirit is
  • What is salvation
  • What happens after death
  • And other interesting facts, beliefs, and practices

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world." (1 John 4:1)
With this biblical admonition in mind, teachers can be assured that the Christianity, Cults & Religions PowerPoint™ will help them teach others to understand the differences between biblical Christianity and other religions and cults that profess to be yet another way to know God. A comparison of each religion or cult to biblical Christianity is just one click away by simply clicking the “Bible button” at the bottom of the screen. One more click returns the presentation to the previous frame.

Another feature of the Christianity, Cults & Religions PowerPoint™ presentation is its flexibility. Teachers can present the PowerPoint™ in one setting or as a series of study sessions. There is enough information in this presentation to present weeks of teachings on religions and cults. Once loaded on a computer, the teacher has unlimited flexibility as to how the information is presented:

  • Present on one religion or cult at a time
  • Rearrange the format for specific environment or time considerations
  • Present at the speed that’s best for participants

Study participants can follow along easily using reproducible PDF Handouts that show each frame. PDF files require Acrobat Reader 4 or a later version. Acrobat Reader is not included on this CD, but is a free download off the Internet at Adobe.com

The Christianity, Cults & Religions PowerPoint™ Teacher’s Notes provides 15 additional pages of information in the PDF file called Christianity, Cults & Religions NOTES. This document offers general observations and suggestions for:

  • Teaching on religions and cults
  • Suggestions for witnessing
  • Definitions and distinctions
  • Possible objections people might have upon learning their group has been included in this study

By: Ron Rhodes,   Reasoning from the Scriptures Ministries - April 8, 2010
Having worked with Paul Carden for years — including as long-time colleagues on the popular Bible Answer Man radio broadcast — I can say without reservation that there is no one better qualified to oversee the production of Christianity, Cults, & Religions. His research is first-rate, and his ability to sift the most important facts from a mountain of cult data will no doubt be appreciated by the many readers of this fine publication. Ron Rhodes---President of Reasoning from the Scriptures

In over three decades of cult studies, I’ve never encountered a guide on the cults and false religions as concise as this one. In a day of information-overload, this helpful guide clearly distinguishes the truth of Christianity from the counterfeits. I recommend it highly. Ron Rhodes---President of Reasoning from the Scriptures

By: Edmond Gruss,   The Master's College, Santa Clarita, CA - April 12, 2010
General editor Paul Carden has once again produced a very helpful pamphlet in this expanded and revised edition. People often wonder or ask how various cults and religions originated and what they believe. This provides a concise and accurate summary of their founders, their key beliefs, and how these differ from biblical Christianity, as well as other pertinent information. The material is easy to read and to understand. I recommend this valuable resource to Christian bookstores, pastors, and to Christians of every age. My teenage grandson reviewed the material and stated, “It's very important for all believers to understand how biblical Christianity differs from cults and world religions. It really opened my eyes to these other beliefs.” Dr. Edmond C. Gruss Author, Professor Emeritus at The Master's College Santa Clarita, CA
