What People Are Saying About the 100 Names of God Daily Devotional

When you know someone, you know their name. The person is important to you, and you to that person. It is a deeply intimate and personal experience to call a person by their name. And this is even more true in our relationship with God. 100 Names of God brings our connection to God to a new level of closeness and worship. You will find yourself “finding God” yet again.—John Townsend, New York Times bestselling author, Leadership expert, psychologist and theologian
Christopher D. Hudson's book--100 Names of God--is an important read for anyone who wants their understanding of God deepened. God has revealed Himself and it is important for us as the body of Christ to embrace what He has shown to us. This book will help you in this quest. As I read through the names of God I was struck by how awesome our God is. My faith in Him grew as I realized that God is even more than I could ever imagine. If you need a boost in your walk, confidence to engage this world and something to overcome all the negative thoughts that bombard you daily, then read this book - then read it again.— Dr. Stephen Leston, Author of The Bible in World History
This is a book I’ve been waiting for ever since I heard Amy Grant sing the song, “El Shaddai” some 30 years ago. For me it was a haunting song about the power of God’s name. El Shaddai. El Elyon. Adonai. The lyrics by Michael Card beautifully tie the Old Testament promise into the New Testament fulfillment. By helping us understand the many names of God sprinkled through Scripture, this book does the same. As a result, the book is just as moving and memorable as the song. Read it in a long afternoon or over 100 days, and you’ll be reminded (or learn) that God is a Strong Tower, a Rock, a Potter, a Consuming Fire, the One Who Lifts My Head, and, of course, our Deliverer. To complement the engaging, reader-friendly content, the book also includes a nice index and a plan for breaking the book down into a six-week personal or group study. This is a book I will not give away. It will stay on a nearby shelf in my office.—Jay Payleitner, best-selling author of What if God Wrote Your Bucket List?
100 Names of God is exactly what I expect from a Christopher Hudson book--a fresh and practical perspective on an important topic, highlighting the fascinating interplay of passages throughout Scripture. Informative, intriguing, and inspiring!—Paul Kent, Author of Know Your Bible and The Real Force: A 40-Day Devotional

There has long been a need for a Christian devotional that balances the literary virtues of readability, brevity, and depth. Christopher Hudson has threaded the theological needle with his latest work: 100 Names of God Daily Devotional (Rose Publishing).

Beautiful in presentation, stylish in appearance, and formatted for readability, the book provides a refreshing reading experience often lacking in today’s literature. More important, however, is its design and content. Hudson deftly identifies 100 common and not-so-common divine names that prove to be a devotional delight.

Each devotional provides a Divine name/title/description, its English translation, and a biblical reference of its use. These are followed by engaging narratives that weave modern-day storylines with rich overviews of corresponding biblical passages that introduce the reader to that particular name of God, followed by its application to our lives. Each devotional concludes with a reflection question, commitment prayer, and suggested scripture for those wanting deeper study for personal enrichment.

100 Names of God Daily Devotional is accessible and approachable while also being relevant and readable. It meets the needs of growing believers who have the desire for a deeper dive in their daily devotions. Moreover, Christopher Hudson’s ability to provide biblically-informed readers with a broad diversity of Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic divine names, each of which is indexed to Strong’s numbering system, makes this devotional a theological treasure trove that will prove to be popular with pastors, professors, and mature Christian believers everywhere. —Freddy Cardoza, Ph.D., Chair, Department of Christian Education, Talbot School of Theology, Executive Director, Society of Professors in Christian Education

on 2/1/2016 Good insights. Highly recommend it.
"100 Names of God" is a daily devotional containing 100 devotions. Each devotion is 1-2 pages long, so they don't take long to read. The author did a good job of leaving me with insights to think about throughout the day. Each devotion covered a name of God from the Old or New Testament and started with that name along with a verse where that name is used. The author explained how this name provides important insights into God's character. He clearly explained his points and provided background information when needed. He ended each devotion with a prayer and a question prompting the reader to see how these insights impact your life. I really enjoyed this devotional and plan to read through it again. I'd highly recommend it. I received this book as a .pdf review copy from the publisher.
on 11/23/2015 Looking for a Gift Book of Substance?
Probably, most of us have found comfort in hymns that remind us, once again, of God’s attributes, of His names, of His unchanging character. We sing of Him as “A Mighty Fortress,” or as our Rock; we rejoice that He is unchanging, and we never cease to be amazed at His grace. Rose Publishing’s recent beautiful publication “100 Names of God,” by Christopher D. Hudson, is a volume of 207 pages, totally devoted to exploring its topic. Each section begins with a title, followed by a verse illustrating the meaning of the name under consideration. There is then a discussion, followed by a searching question and the section ends with a prayer, plus suggestions for further Bible reading. As well, the readings have been organized into weekly themes. For the studious, there is an Index to Names and Strong’s Numbers. The book would be suitable for a daily study by an individual or family, or for small group devotional times. I received an advance copy in return for a frank review.
on 9/24/2015 Know and Love God Better
I have been trying to improve my relationship with God, but struggling with gleaning the knowledge I needed to easily understand the expanse of God and his love for me. This book contains 100 names of God and a thought provoking explanation of what each name means and how it shows God's great loving relationship towards us- his creation- so we can know and love him in return. In this book you will come to appreciate God's relationship with us as our mighty creator, renewer of life, our provider, the God who hears and sees us, who helps us and is faithful, who is ready to forgive and always with us, who heals us, who avenges us and intercedes for us, who saves and delivers us- our everything. And that's just a few of God's names. This is a book I will read over and over again on a daily basis, not just for a hundred days, but for life. I am grateful to Rose Publishing for giving me the opportunity to review an advanced copy of this publication in exchange for my honest review.
on 9/19/2015 Wonderful resource for Bible Study
This is the book I have been searching to find for several years. Other books with similiar names did not include all the Hebrew and Greek titles of God. Several years ago my Community Bible Study class decided to prepare devotions each week with the names of Jesus. This would have been the perfect resource. Each title is given a common name for example Elohim: Might Creator. The readings each day have a key verse with a short devotional and other scripture references ending in a prayer for that specific characteristic of God. This is an awesome resource in pdf so I can open it on my iPad or iPhone when I am away from home and need a Word from God. In the 210 pages there is a thematic six weeks Bible study guide at the back of the book for individuals or groups. Never fear those of you that steer clear of Greek and Hebrew, there is an index of names and Strong's Concordance Dictionary numbers with key references and common names. I was asked for an honest review of this pdf by Rose Publ
on 9/18/2015 Product Review: 100 Names of God Daily Devotional
Throughout the Bible, we learn different attributes about God revealing to us His power, ability, and nature. This insight is provided by numerous names, titles, and descriptions of God that convey God’s authority, desire, and love. Author, Christopher D. Hudson, has written a daily devotional entitled, “100 Names of God Daily Devotional” and published by Rose Publishing. This daily devotional examines the etymology of the names used to refer to God. Each name reveals a different aspect of God aiding in the expansion of our limited knowledge and presenting an opportunity to learn more about our Creator. Hudson provides biblical references, explanations, and provide modern day examples making the names easy to understand. This devotional is designed better understanding of God which will promote spiritual growth. After each name explanation, Hudson offers a small prayer for the reader to recite in appreciation for revelation of God’s attributes and request for wisdom. Another important feature to mention is the index. The index consists of the names of God in English format, names in the original language, key Scriptural references, and Strong’s numbers. The use of the Strong’s numbers allow readers to obtain a more complete definition of words using Strong’s Dictionaries. This devotional can be an instrumental tool for the lives of Believers. Learning about God’s attributes allows us to utilize the names of God in our prayers. This is indispensable to our understanding of God and provides “Communication Bridge” that directly connects us to the very nature of God. I would recommend this devotional to all Believers desiring to know God. This a great personal devotional; however, could be adapted to a Bible or Sunday School Study. [Advanced Reader Review]
